Update from Our General Manager

Dear Members:

Summer is fast approaching, so please act now to reserve swimming lessons and our weekly summer camp sessions. Click here for our online registration form -- it’s easy! Or if you prefer, the front desk can provide a paper application.

We’re trying to be vigilant about water consumption around the club, and appreciate if you can limit your showers to five minutes or less. It’s also important to monitor your children in the locker rooms while showering. We’ve posted signs to remind everyone about this necessary conservation effort.

In the coming month, we’re “lighting up” a couple areas of the club for safety and convenience. We’re installing lights in the new employee parking lot and, based on members’ suggestions, we’ll add lights to the Diablo tennis court as well.

Speaking of tennis, please be advised that the Manzanita court in front of the club is being resurfaced this week. Accordingly, the court will be closed until this Friday, March 28, according to the present work schedule. We will accept reservations for the coming weekend, but please be flexible if for any reason the surface is not completed by then.

Another facility improvement that members have asked about is also underway. We will install soundproofing in the clubhouse to insulate the yoga studio from the childcare area below. We hope reducing the noise level will improve your experience.

As always, I welcome your feedback and suggestions.

To your health,

Ernesto Chamorro
General Manager

Healthy Tip from The Hills’ Nutritionist

imgDid you know that foods rich in fiber can help lower your cholesterol? That's because fiber binds with bile, which is comprised of cholesterol, and carries it out of the body. This process also protects against gall stones and other gall bladder diseases, because it keeps bile from stockpiling in the gall bladder. Diets high in fiber also regulate blood sugar, and make us feel full without overeating. Foods highest in fiber are legumes: all the beans (except jelly beans!), nuts, nut butters, seeds, lentils and peas. Fruit, vegetables, and grains also contain fiber. So let's lower cholesterol the natural way -- with healthy food!
