Caitlin Smith is an elite runner, Pilates trainer, yoga instructor, running coach, and childbirth assistant who specializes in women’s health, athletic rehabilitation, and running performance.
In 2009, Caitlin Smith exploded onto the international trail running scene with overall wins and course records in several 50ks, the Transrockies Run (a six-day stage race in Colorado), the North Face 50 Mile Championship and the Nike Women’s Marathon in San Francisco. In 2010, Caitlin set her sights on broader goals, with top finishes at the Kaiser Half Marathon, the Mount Washington Road Race, the San Francisco Half Marathon, and the USATF 15k Trail Championships. In 2011, she finished 9th American at Boston Marathon, which qualified her for the Olympic Marathon trials. She participated in the trials early this year.
Before 2009, Caitlin was just exploring the local trails and running for fun. She was naïve to the fact that she had the ability to be a competitive runner until she won several 20ks in 2008. This was the year after she had completed both her Pilates training with Ellie Herman at EHS in San Francisco and her yoga training with Alice Joanou at Loka Yoga in Oakland. Even though Caitlin has spent most of her life moving, dancing into her late teens and running since high school, she believes that Pilates and yoga have made her a stronger, faster, and healthier runner.
