After completing a post graduate degree in Economics and Political Science at the Sorbonne, Paris, Muriel received her training as a physical therapist at UC San Francisco. Her extensive experience includes Acute Care, Orthopedics, Rehabilitation, and Home Health.
Doubly certified, she is a Health and Fitness Instructor through the College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) in 1993, and a Pilates Instructor by the Health and Fitness Institute in 2004. She has taught Pilates in prominent East Bay Heath Clubs and Kaiser Permanente. She presently teaches at The Hills and Tennis Club, and the Working Body in Oakland.
Muriel’s focus is on injury prevention. She has taught back injury prevention classes at Alta Bates and Kaiser hospitals, at the YMCA, and for the City of Berkeley workers. She holds frequent fitness evaluations classes and has helped organize large scale Health Fairs for Kaiser Permanente in Oakland.
Ballet and gymnastics training merge in her penchant for movement therapy. Such range of motion underlies her growing interest in the area of Osteoporosis and Fall Prevention. Her expertise is exercise for rehabilitation
She is presently completing two long-term teacher training programs: Brent Anderson Polestar Pilates, and Eric Franklin Functional Anatomy and Imagery.
