Barbara’s been practicing yoga for 20 years, and teaching for a decade now. She began with the Iyengar tradition, a style of yoga that centers on alignment. This training is still prominent in her approach. Barbara also incorporates the Viniyoga or Vinyasa Karma schools, in the Krishnamacharya tradition, highlighting breath control and its role in “opening the body,’” as she puts it. “I want to support and challenge my students through breath practice (pranayama), meditation and postures (asanas), and encouraging both the rasa ("sweetness") and the Kali energies (“fierceness”) -- the flavors of life that comes from opening yourself to this wonderful practice of yoga.”
