UPDATE FROM OUR GENERAL MANAGERDear Members,
Fall is here but the weather hasn’t seemed to cool down too much. There have been some beautiful days here at The Hills. It was especially nice for this year’s Halloween party! We had a great turnout and a ton of fun. I had the opportunity to be in the dunk tank and was dunked for the first time by a hard throwing southpaw that was under ten years old. You can check out the video of the party on The Hills’ Facebook page.
I want to say thank you to all who have been conserving water here at the club. We have cut back 49% over previous years, which is a testament to those turning off the water while brushing teeth and shaving, or taking shorter showers.
By the time this newsletter has been published, I will have been working at the club for a year. I want to say that it has been one of the most enjoyable experiences of my life. I have built many relationships with you all, and our team that serves you is tremendous. What a great place we have here at The Hills. Thank you for allowing me to serve you.
We’ve had some safety concerns around the club, brought to my attention by other members. As a reminder, please observe the important regulations outlined below in our Programs & Announcements section.
As always, please let me know if you have any questions.
To your health and happiness,
We will be closing at 8pm on Wednesday, November 11th for staff training. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and would greatly appreciate if you would plan your workout accordingly.
The Hills’ Billing
The Hills switched to paperless billing over the summer. This means that we have not been sending bills in the mail unless requested. We understand that not everyone received notifications regarding paperless billing and that it has caused issues for many of you, including those that requested paper statements. We are deeply sorry for the trouble and are working to fix the errors. Please bear with us. In the meantime, you can access your account statements and itemized transaction listing, and make a payment, by logging in to your Member’s Online Account on our website. For more information or to request mailed statements, please contact Amelia Broadhurst, our Administrative Manager, by email at email@example.com or by phone at (510) 339-0234 ext. 14.
Reminders: The Hills Rules & Regulations
● The Hills is a smoke-free facility. This includes the parking lots.
● There is no glass allowed on the pool deck. Broken glass is a safety hazard and if it makes it into the pool, we have to shut down the club to drain and clean the pool.
● Please do not pull over in front of the club to unload or load your car. This is a traffic hazard.
● Please obey the directional signs in the upper parking lot. Do not go in through the exit or out through the entrance. This is another traffic hazard.

Swim Team News
Swimmers performed well over the first two months of the season. Sixteen year old Matthew Kaplan, Hills Member and Hills Lifeguard, broke three team records in October. Kaplan, unrested, swam away with a 15-16 boy’s record in the 200 Butterfly stroke, 1,000 Freestyle stroke, and 1,650 Freestyle. Kaplan looks to break more records in November before he ages up at the end of the month. Two other stand-out swimmers of the month are twins Tom and Taylor Rolefson, Age 10. The two of them have been a force in accumulating numerous BB times. A 'BB' time represents a level equal to 75% of the National Top 16 Reportable Time. Both Tom and Taylor are versatile swimmers and combine to have “BB times” in eleven events. At this pace they will be racking up “A times”, a level equal to 84% of the National Top 16 Reportable Time, very shortly.
Our very popular pre-competitive swim teams, Manta Rays and Tidal Waves will take a break for one month but we will return in 2016 starting January 6th. Online registration will be up and ready sometime in November. Please keep an eye out in the mid-November enews for more information.
