Update from our General Manager

Dear Members:

Whew, the summer is whizzing by this year! Seems like we were just planning our Memorial Day party, and now we're already looking ahead to Labor Day festivities on the pool deck. Mark you calendar for some lively music and delicious food on Monday, September 1, from noon to 3pm.

I promised to keep you informed about our construction plans for the expanded gym facilities. Today, I'm excited to tell you that our plans have been finalized and the budget is approved. Drawings are now with the County Building Department, and their expected approval will allow us to set a firm schedule with our contractor. More to come...

I want to acknowledge the successful (and free!) tennis clinic for kids recently organized by our new pro, Jasmine Martinez. She's planning another introductory clinic for youngsters, and also a competitive ladder for adults. More information is below.

I want to offer a couple of summertime reminders about club courtesy. Please, never use a cell phone in the locker or shower areas. This is an understandable privacy concern and often young people of the "digital age" overlook this concern. So please also remind your kids about this club rule.

Also, while the club cannot be responsible for personal items left behind at the facility, we do try to maintain a lost and found on the pool deck. Please retrieve your items as soon as possible, and don't rummage through the bin looking to borrow a towel or items belonging to other members.

Finally, a big safety issue is our rule about no glassware or bottles beyond the club lobby. If you bring a bottle of wine, we can provide a plastic decanter. Beer or soft drinks are OK in cans or cartons. Broken glass is an obvious hazard, and if it gets into the pool, we would need to close the facility for clean up.

I hope you enjoy the rest of your summer.

To your health,

Ernesto Chamorro

Message from Our Group Fitness Manager

Birgitte reminds you to always sign in for classes you attend. This is important because the fitness team uses the data for planning and budgeting. Also, we have installed a new storage area in the Club House. This closet by the entryway will eliminate clutter in the workout area. Yoga blocks are on the top shelves along with a First Aid kit. Towels are stored below. Sign-in sheets, yoga straps and accessories are in the bottom cabinet. No personal belongings, please.

Fall Aquatics Programs Ahead
Group swim lessons start in September. Groups are geared for all levels of competence; from beginners to aspiring competitors. Lead instructor is Erin Lucas. More information and sign ups will begin mid-August.

Fall Swim Team Schedule

Here's how the Fall Swim Team schedule is shaping up:
August 11-14 and August 18-21: All groups practice 5–6pm
August 25: The regular Fall schedule begins; Mondays through Friday 4-7pm
We are also offering two try out dates (August 25 and 27). Please contact head coach Shad for more info at swojtala@caclubs.com.

Attention Lap Swimmers
To help more swimmers get their workout, even when it's busy at the pool, we are providing “How to Circle Swim” guidelines on the pool deck. We also have the Lap Swim Guidelines as well as the pool schedule on our website. Sharing lanes and circle swimming is a club policy and a fairly common practice at busy facilities. We encourage all lap swimmers to share their space!
