August Newsletter 2013
eNews from The Hills
Dear Members:
Since The Hills was renovated, we’ve attracted a lot of new families and attendance has increased dramatically. Combined with great weather and kids’ summer activities, the club is operating at full capacity throughout the week.
Due to these factors, the recurrent theme I need to communicate is “safety first.” One thing we’ve done to increase vigilance around the water is expand the weekend lifeguard staff. Between the hours of 11am and 7pm, we’ll post a fourth lifeguard to monitor the family pool and hot tub. When conditions are especially crowded, we may need to disable the spa jets to better supervise children.
Also during those prime weekend hours, we will reduce the lap lanes from four to three. We hope this takes some pressure off crowding in the recreational pool and hot tub. After a scary incident last month, we’ll move the lifeguard stands away from the pool edge when guards are not on duty.
Of course, we always need your help supervising your children and following posted rules and verbal reminders from the lifeguards. Starting this month, we will provide visiting guests with a pool safety checklist to orient them to our regulations. It’s important to properly register your guests at the front desk, and for you to encourage guests to review and abide the club’s rules.
A couple other reminders and courtesies: Children ages 5 and over should change and shower in their gender-appropriate locker room. Please help our staff by picking up towels, clothing and litter around the pool deck, tables and locker areas. Also note that in order to keep the club clean and properly maintained, we routinely pressure wash the pool decks once a month. (Deck cleanings will occur between 10am and 2pm, the second Monday of every month.)
Finally, save the date for a fun summer party on Sunday, August 25. We’re planning live music on the pool deck and family activities. (Please note that the club will close at 8pm on Friday, August 9 for a staff event.)
To your health,
