eNews from The Hills

Dear Members:

So far this winter, the weather has been perfect for swimming and enjoying the sunshine. But we are worried about the lack of rain and so we are making some adjustments around the facility to conserve water. The East Bay Municipal Utility District has not mandated any specific conservation guidelines, but we anticipate that possibility.

Moderating our landscape irrigation is one step we are considering. We are also testing low-water cleaning solutions for our pool deck and sport courts. Finally, we’re reaching out to our membership to help us reduce water usage at the club.

The easiest thing you can do to help is limit your showers to 10 minutes or less. It’s important to make sure your children also observe this guideline. We will monitor our water consumption rates carefully, as we consider other approaches that save water – including low-flow shower heads.

On another note, we are excited about the construction of an expanded gym facility this year. I’ve received many positive comments about the architectural illustrations we’ve posted in the lobby. As we work with the Planning Department to obtain permits, specific floor plans and schematics will be drafted. With permits, we can also be more specific about timing of the project. Please stay tuned.

Finally, a reminder that you can save on your Hills dues by pre-paying your account for the entire year. Please call or stop by the front desk before January 31.

Many thanks for all of your helpful comments and cooperation

To your health,
Ernesto

imgTip from The Hills’ Nutritionist

Did you know that drinking water helps with weight loss? Drinking at least 64 ounces of water a day allows the liver to burn fat most efficiently, increasing our metabolism. Also, when you’re dehydrated, the brain confuses thirst for hunger, and we may eat too much. Sufficient water consumption can increase energy levels, combat joint pain, and prevent various types of cancer. A good rule of thumb is to drink a glass of water or tea every hour throughout the day. Your health is worth it!
