UPDATE FROM OUR GENERAL MANAGER

Dear Hills Members,

I have to give a shout out and a huge thank you to Andrew Butcher and his crew at Sierra Nevada Sealcoating & Asphalt ( https://sierranevadasealcoating.com/ ) for the professionalism, efficiency, and execution of our Parking Lot project. Not only were they able to knock out the job in one week (five days to be exact) as scheduled, but the end result looks fantastic! Since we reopened both of the lots, the outpouring of compliments and praise from our members has been unanimously positive. I also wanted to thank all of you for your patience and understanding as well as your willingness to adjust your normal routines to ensure we still had enough parking for everyone while parts of both the Upper or Lower lots were temporarily closed. The smooth pavement should feel much better on your vehicle's tires…now if we can only get the same treatment on our local roads! 🙂

In case you haven't noticed, we reinstalled the cabana covers, moved the outdoor gym equipment out of Cabanas 2 & 3 and added new lounge furniture. There are now eight "reservable" cabanas available for two-hour blocks of time. We are aware of the high demand of the cabanas on warm weather days, so hopefully this will give more members an opportunity to take advantage of this popular club amenity. For those of you who still prefer to workout outside, outdoor gym equipment remains available for use in the elevated Cabana #1.

The club is looking great and we are preparing for the beginning of another wonderful summer here. Wishing everyone a Happy Memorial Day, and, of course, to all the mothers out there, thank you for all you do and Happy Mother's Day!!!

-Nick

Artist Spotlight: "Familia" by Jeff Bince-Quezeda

img

Jeff Bince-Quezada is our newest featured artist in The Hills lobby. This series, titled "Familia," pays tribute to Jeff's diverse and large family. In each digital illustration, he blends reality with imagination and transforms portraits into caricatures while capturing the essence of loved ones with a touch of whimsy and charm.

Jeff joined The Hills a few months ago with his husband, Kevin and 20-month-old son, Parker.  When he isn't drawing on his iPad, Jeff can be found playing pickleball or chasing Parker around the lawn.

More information can be found in the lobby about Jeff's inspiration and work.

If you would like to show your work in The Hills lobby, please email [email protected]

HIIT is a Hit!

img

The number of members participating in early morning HIIT is steadily growing, and we are receiving lots of positive feedback. In case you missed it, here are the latest classes added to the group exercise schedule:

Wednesdays, 6:15-7am
HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training)
A 45-minute session that alternates between short bursts of intense cardio followed by low-impact recovery. Tori approaches this class with the goal of improving cardiovascular endurance through core power and explosiveness. It is a fun, fast-paced class, leaving you ready to take on Thursday's challenge.

Thursdays, 6:15-7:10am
HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training)
Thursday's program centers on rounds of strength training; focusing on using heavier weights for muscle building.

We recommend only experienced exercisers join both classes each week. Beginners should choose one class each week, alternating, and adding low-intensity cardio on off days. With regular exercise, you will eventually be ready to graduate to both weekly classes.

For those members not ready to exercise in the early morning, we have added an evening Body Sculpt class on Thursday nights with Danielle. Some of our other new offerings include a Dance 360 class at 9am and Spin/Core at 10am, both on Fridays. Check out the schedule for all of our Group Fitness offerings.

Looking forward to seeing you in one (or many) of our classes!

Get Strong with Our Peak Fit Classes

img

It's hard to believe that May is already upon us. Although April gave us a "mixed bag" of weather, the coming of May almost guarantees consistent warmer temperatures, and more ways to move our bodies outdoors. We are so lucky to live in one of the most beautiful places on Earth, and have endless options to get out and move! Whether you enjoy biking, hiking or rock climbing (just to name a few), your body will benefit by supplementing these activities with one of our Peak Fit classes. These small group training (SGT) classes all take place in our Peak Fit studio. We welcome members to try their first Peak Fit class for free, so you've got nothing to lose!

Mondays, 11am All About Strength with Sara
This beginner class focuses on strength building, using your body weight, the TRX and other equipment we have in the Peak Fit studio.

Wednesdays, 9am Spring TRX Conditioning with Tori
This class is great for both beginners or experienced members on TRX who are looking to improve their muscle imbalances, mobility and overall endurance.

Thursdays, 12pm Strength and Stability with Danielle
This class integrates strength, balance and flexibility movements utilizing TRX straps, kettlebells and other fun pieces of equipment. Getting you stronger for whatever you're looking to achieve.

Our SGT classes are constantly changing and evolving—and they're fun! Keeping the group to an 8-person max allows the certified instructor to build a connection with each member while also giving proper attention to each participant's safety, form, and alignment. Small group training has been shown to increase camaraderie, accountability, and success for individuals in the group.

PLEASE NOTE: You must register for our classes in order to participate. We require a minimum of 3-4 participants per class. You can unregister online, up to 24 hours prior to the start of class. We're offering a 10 class package at $180 and your drop in fee is $20 per class. Please reach out to me with any questions.

If the timing of these classes don't fit with your schedule, you can always book a few personal training sessions with one of our amazing, knowledgeable trainers (pricing listed below).

We look forward to helping you reach your fitness goals!

We offer aqua fitness 4 days a week from 9-10am; the workouts vary, and best of all they are included with your membership. Join the class for a fun, low-impact workout that will help you get stronger. Using the natural resistance of water, our aqua fitness classes allow you to build muscle and increase cardiovascular fitness without putting extra stress on your joints. It's also a great cross training exercise. If you haven't yet given it a try, grab a friend and come up to the club for a morning aqua fitness class!

These "water" workouts are typically a fun and social atmosphere and are for all levels of physical ability. Get Out and Play!

For those members who enjoy their outdoor workout, Cabana 1 will remain as the designated workout cabana (no reservation required to use the outdoor fitness equipment).

Reservations for our "lounge" cabanas open at 8am 3 days in advance. For example, on Tuesday morning at 8am, members can log in and book a cabana reservation for Friday.
